RBFD Marine and Rescue
The Marine Division with its Scuba Diving Team is an integral part of Red Bank Fire Department rescue operations. Because its specialized mission, it operates in a semi-autonomous capacity, under the direction of the Fire Chief and the Captain of the division. The origins of this team can be technically placed back to 1952 or 1954, when the RBFD Rescue Squad purchased its first aluminum boat for water rescue operations.
Today, the Team consists of highly trained divers and operates specialized equipment utilized for water rescue operations. Red Bank scuba divers are called into service each time a rescue is needed in the Navesink River or at Red Bank's Mohawk Pond, as well as for water rescues in the nearby New Jersey shore area towns.
The team and its equipment is housed at the First Aid building, located on Spring Street.
