Parking Smart Cards now $10

posted: 1, October 31, 2011 at 09:53AM
Councilman Edward Zipprich, liaison the Department of Public Utilities, has announced a reduction in the price of pre-loaded parking smart cards that are used in the Borough’s parking meters. Just in time for the holiday rush, the lower price of $10.00 will promote an easy way to pay at meters and save time and money for shoppers and restaurant patrons. The card enables users to pay at the parking meter without coins and they will only pay for time used since any leftover time on the meter can be refunded to the card. The smart card technology has been used in the Borough’s parking meters for years but is considered under promoted and under utilized. Smart cards are available through River Center, Funk and Standard Variety Store and several other businesses. A full list of participating businesses and instructions on how to use the smart card are available on the Borough’s website at www.redbanknj.org. Cards may also be purchased at the Department of Public Utilities, 75 Chestnut Street, where existing card holders may also refill their cards.
