Criminal Investigations Division

The Criminal Investigation Division of the Red Bank Police Department is under the command of Capt. Stephen McCarthy. There are six officers currently working in the Division including a sergeant, two detectives, and three investigators. The primary responsibility is conducting investigations of all criminal offenses occurring in the Borough of Red Bank. Additional duties of the Criminal Investigation Division include the registering of Sex Offenders, Homeland Security issues, and forfeiture of monies and property of those convicted of crimes.
 
The officers in the Criminal Investigation Division receive additional training in the examination of evidence, handling of crime scenes, coordinating surveillances, and interviewing victims and suspects.

Juvenile Bureau

The Juvenile Bureau conducts investigations into offenses committed by juveniles, maintains a good relationship with social service organizations, and oversees the operation of the Juvenile Conference Committee. The Juvenile Bureau is also responsible for teaching the Drug Awareness and Resistance Education (DARE) program in each of the three grammar schools in Red Bank. Gang Resistance Education and Training is also being taught.

Narcotics Bureau

All information regarding narcotics in the Borough of Red Bank is gathered by the Narcotics Bureau in the Criminal Investigation Division. It is then evaluated and disseminated throughout the police department. The Narcotics Bureau also maintains a good working relationship with the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotic Strike Force.
