The new vehicles, purchased with monies budgeted in previous years, have arrived and were put into service this month. The trucks have a larger 31 cubic yard capacity and will reduce fuel costs for the Borough by reducing the number of trips made throughout the Borough and to the county landfill. They will also reduce the number of solid waste employees required for solid waste pick up further reducing the budget’s payroll expenses.
“We are excited to have these new vehicles to help reduce operating costs in these trying economic times,” said Zipprich. “It is another way that the Department is doing more with less by providing the services that our residents depend on. The new trucks are more efficient and will reduce staffing requirements while preserving jobs for our employees.”
